Early College
What is the Early College Program at MC?

The Early College (EC2) program is a Montgomery College and Montgomery County Schools (MCPS) partnership for high school students who desire a more independent and advanced learning environment. EC2 students attend classes at the College's Rockville Campus.

Which campuses will offer the program?

The EC2 program is offered at the Rockville Campus and provides the opportunity for students to attend MC full tim. Students have the option to earn either an Associate of Arts in Teaching, Secondary Mathematics OR an Associate of Science, Mathematics track degree.

If I am still in high school, how does this work?

Participating students will remain officially enrolled at their home high school but will complete their 11th and 12th grade years of high school while simultaneously completing their first two years of college. Students will be eligible to participate in their home high school extracurricular activities, athletics, and other school events while also allowing students to engage clubs and activities as an MC student.

What degree programs are available?

There are two degree programs offered, as follows:

Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT), Mathematics: This program prepares students to transfer to any secondary education mathematics program at a four-year college or university in the state of Maryland. The AAT degree articulates with Maryland transfer programs in mathematics education. The program enables students to fulfil their General Education requirements, participate in fieldwork experiences in the schools, and complete a curriculum core of education coursework appropriate for the first two years of teacher preparation.

Associate of Science (AS): This program provides students with the first two years of a typical four-year curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree in science in a mathematics related field. Completion of all requirements for this degree program will lead to the award of the A.S. in science. The curriculum is designed to provide flexibility in order to meet requirements for different math related majors as well as the various transfer institutions.

How do I enroll?
